Clinton Fire Station. Built in 1921. Photo circa 1945

The Clinton Fire Department's # 1 station was built in 1921 replacing rented quarters in the Allen Block on Williams Street. Money from a bequest of Ralph S. Lumbard partially funded the station. This picture shows the awnings of Dawes Meat Market on the Kirkland Avenue side. Dawes went out of business in 1947, and the CFD took the entire building for its apparatus.
